Dragons Come Up Short at Northeastern, 64-53

Boston, Mass. - Narissa Suber poured in 23 points and helped to key a 16-3 Drexel run in the second half that brought the Dragons back from a 13-point deficit. Suber's three-pointer at the 2:04 mark made it a 54-50 game but Northeastern (3-13, 2-3 CAA) closed out the game by out-scoring the Dragons 14-3 to claim a 64-53 victory over Drexel (5-11, 0-5 CAA).
Nicole McCombs sparked the Dragons to come back from an 11-point deficit by putting in 11 points and grabbing four rebounds after checking in midway through the period. McCombs contribution helped the Dragons even the score at 34-34 after tailing 19-8 in the early going.
The Huskies shot a season-high 52.4 percent from the field to pull away from the Dragons in the second half. Ashlee Feldman proved to be unstoppable from outside, connecting on five of her seven three-point attempts for 19 points. Narissa Suber knocked down a season-high six three-pointers.
Drexel shot 36.5 percent from the f loor and 38.9 percent from long range. Northeastern out-rebounded Drexel 32-23. The Dragons were led on the boards by Kira Karlstrom and McCombs with seven boards each. Andrea Peterson dished out a season-high five assists and helped to key the Dragons' second-half rally by converting a three-point play.
Shalyese Smallwood led the Huskies with 21 points and Stefanie Hodell pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds for Northeastern.
Drexel hits the road again on Thursday for a match-up with James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va.
